If you are looking for something a bit different to do this Easter, don’t miss the Easter Vintage Festival hosted by Highfield Pioneer Village. This year is the 22nd anniversary of this annual event that takes place on the Saturday, Sunday and Easter Monday. Every year, the festival has a theme, and this time it’s “Memories of days gone.” It’s an excellent opportunity to come and experience what life must have been like for Australians during the pioneer days. You get the chance to be a blacksmith, learn to milk a cow or even crack a whip.
The Village is setting up authentic camp ovens to make damper and billy tea. Kids will love the baby animals in the nursery, and there is a spectacular Grand Parade to watch. Other events include live music, and there will be lots of great food to enjoy. If you are fortunate, you may even get to meet Ned Kelly, the infamous bushranger. The festival is excellent for people who love history or who are into vintage machinery, as well as those just looking for great entertainment. It’s not unknown for visitors to come for all three days because there’s so much to see and do!
