Children's Dentistry

Regular preventive dental care is the most effective and easiest way to enjoy excellent dental health, and we suggest your child sees a dentist soon after their first teeth erupt so we can check their teeth and jaws are developing correctly. Ongoing dental care requires two comprehensive dental check-ups annually. During these appointments we can carefully monitor the condition of your child’s teeth, take dental x-rays if necessary, and we will professionally clean their teeth.

Fissure sealants are a thin layer of flowable, tooth-coloured resin that is applied to the clean chewing surfaces of adult molar teeth, completely sealing these surfaces and protecting them against decay. The process is quick, painless and non-invasive, but is extremely effective. Fissure sealants can only be applied to teeth that don’t have any fillings or cavities and are best applied soon after your child gets their adult back teeth.

Who is eligible for CDBS?
From January 2014, eligible families, teenagers and approved care organisations will receive a letter to confirm eligibility. Your child is eligible when:

• they are aged between 2 and 17 for at least 1 day of
• the calendar year
• they are eligible for Medicare
• you or they get an eligible payment at least once that year.

A child or teenager’s eligibility is assessed at the beginning of each calendar year and is valid for the whole of that calendar year.
